How to use Earlymiser.com
Earlymiser is a easy to use shopping comparison site. Earlymiser has a set of great features but to take full advantage of Earlymiser,
you will need to create an account. Creating an account is easy enough.
In the upper left hand corner of the site you can simply "Sign Up for an
Account" After filling out the simply account form, a confirmation will
be sent to the email you provide. From there you can confirm your
account. Once your account is confirmed you will be able build feeds,
tag them and be notified when the prices on the item feeds change.
Let's see how we would use the site.
The best way to use the site is to understand one of the basic concepts behind the site - custom feeds. You can think of custom feeds as shopping list, a want list - it's really a list of items that you want to group together. Each feed can be set up with it's own pricing trigger. Let's take a look at some feeds I have set up.
First you would search for a
product you are interested in. Use the search box or the category tree
to find what you are looking for. Let's say you are looking for the
"Sony Playstation Portable". Our search engine will provide a variety
of products related to the Sony PSP. You will notice beside each result
will be a small box named "Add To Feed." Simply click on "Add to Feed"
for each product you are interested in monitering. If you haven't set
up a feed, when you click on "Add to Feed" a pop up window will show up
and you can create a new feed. In this example I set up a feed called
Sony PSP. I have put the main console, games and various accessories. I
then tagged the feed with PSP, Sony, PSPGames, games,
videogames, wireless. Once you have logged in to your new account, you
can begin by building a feed. Feed are simply groups of products that
you might organize around a specific theme. One of the themes I have
developed is for my work with Search and Rescue here in New Mexico.
Another I have set up is Brian's Home Office Supplies
for my home office supplies. You can select under Global preferences
which shopping providers you want to use. Currently you can select from
Shopping.com, Amazon, Yahoo Shopping, Ebay and Amazon Marketplace.
Each custom feed has it's own RSS feed that is associated with it. You can then use Bloglines or another RSS reader to keep track of each feed. The publication date on each provider changes in the feed when the price is updated. Additionally each product has a seperate product RSS feed available. The product RSS feed contains every search result associated with that product. So without creating an account you can be notified when a price changes on product. |
