This game has monumentaly fantastic unpixelated graphics (for the idiots out there who can't understand a single word i just said it means (pretty..... colors). But it does have a few problems.like how it lacks balance between many kaiju (that's the Japanese term for monster). Its almost not fun to play against monsters like "DESTROYAH". If you attack him at close range he will use a series of unblockable unstopable moves that take out half your life in a matter of seconds. Especialy those stuped power horn katana attacks.I got this game because i thought it looked cool. I got it three days ago and i beat this game 5 times already. I beat this game in 4 minutes and 54 seconds (granted i used a cheat code to get every monster and do four times normal damage). but no cheat code in this game is perminant to keep all your monsters and cities you have to unlock them. Wich stinks but its more fun. I have some awsome cheat codes but to type them in you have to be on the main screen that has where you choose to do melee, adventure or verses and stuff like that.(IMPORTANT!)(THESE CODES ONLY WORK FOR THIS EXACT GAME AND ONLY ON THE ORIGIONAL XBOX) you have to PRESS AND HOLD L TRIGGER THEN PRESSAND HOLD B THEN PRESS AND HOLD R TRIGGER (IN THE SAME ORDER I SAID IT!!!!!!!!) (THEN RELEASE IN THIS ORDER)B THEN RIGHT TRIGGER THEN LEFT TRIGGER.If done the exact way i said a box should appear. If it doesn't you didn't do it right.(!!WARNING!! THE FOLLOWING CHEATCODES ARE NOT PERMINANT, THEY WILL TURN OFF IF YOUR XBOX IS TURNED OFF).ALL CITIES AND MONSTERS INCLUDING "ORGA" type 863768 if typed corectly you will hear godzilla roar.PLAYER ONE IS SMALL type 558277 if typed corectly you will hear godzilla roar. This is the best Godzilla game. PERIOD. It's loads of fun. Really, it is. It's really fun to control all the monsters you've seen in the movies. My personal favorites are Destroyah, Mechagodzilla, and Megalon. The only problem is that the game is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too hard. Megalon has got to be the biggest problem monster. He will be underground 80% of the time you fight him, and it is extremely difficult to run from(But is possible, I know). And if he gets right underneath you, he'll come up, grab you, and throw you in one fo his special throws. To make things worse, his energy attack is magnetized right towards your monster, and the attack is brutal. Why Megalon is one of the starting monsters I'll never know...but thank God because he is one of the best characters of the game. King Gidorah is another good monster and one fo the best. Even his(their)none energy attacks are quite brutal. Gigan is quite possibly the funnest character to control, soley because he has the coolest throwing moves(like the buzzsaw throw). It's also fun to use his special teleport move. Gigan may not go far, but it's definately cool to watch. The Mothra airstrike power..I'll say this..GET IT FIRST. Mothra has got to be the most annoying asset of the game, as she continuously zaps the opposite player with ridiculously painful results. Mechagodzilla is the toughest monster here. Not to mention he's totally cheap. His rocket fingers do a lot of damage-ridiculously brutal damage-but fortunately, he is limited to 3.
So, all in all, it's a solid game. It can be impossible 80% of the time, but it's still fun and worth the difficulty. |

| This game is, in a word, REPETITIVE. You do the exact same thing over and over. Oh look, a giant monster is attacking, why I think I'll smash a few buildings and smack that monster around. Oh look, I beat the last level and the next one looks exactly the same. What's that? Another monster attacking, why I think I'll smash a few buildings and smack that monster around. Yea, I beat that level. Oh look a monster is attacking, why I think I'll do the EXACT same thing that I've done for the last fifty levels. Who created this? A five year-old? This game is so stupid that it is actually insulting. Don't even waste the money on a rental. |

Firstly, the game is fun. It isn't as fast paced or responsive as some of the fight games out today, but in some ways I like that because I don't have to memorize insanely huge combos. The monsters are all good and reasonably well balanced. The Single Player game is somewhat short. Fighting the computer is difficult at first, but then becomes rather too easy. Another annoyance is the fact that you have to unlock monsters to use them and you only start off with like 2 monsters. I don't mind unlocking monsters, but at least give us a little more 'starting' variety.
THE BAD
There are some small but definite balancing issues. King Ghiddorah is the most powerful monster by far. When flying, he can shoot you, and this shot is not wimpy. What is more, he can shoot you like this three times in a row before his energy runs out. Then all you have to do is run away from your opponent and recharge. Lather rinse repeat. They can't stop you. There is no 'wind up' to this flying shot. You leap in the air and instantly fire. Reacting in time is impossible against a half-way decent opponent. But even if you block the shot it still doesn't seem to stop the damage.
Rodan has some of the same balance issue. However, his shot doesn't do as much damage and flying sucks his energy much faster so it isn't as big a deal.
Destroyah's energy katana is another ability that can be abused. It is fast and 'stuns' you as well as knocking you down. It also does a LOT of damage. So as long as Destroyah has energy and gets in close enough you are hard pressed to avoid losing a good 20% of your health bar when facing an opponent that knows how to pull this move.
Mechagodzilla's missiles do a TON of damage. If you are on your feet and careful you can avoid them easily enough, but if you get cornered or knocked down and he hits you with a full spread then you lose a good 35% of your health. That's a LOT. Considering that no other monster can do damage at that magnatude it is a little unfair - especially considering he gets THREE missile loadouts at the beginning of each round. So basically until your opponent fires off all his missiles you are dancing around trying your best to make sure you never ever get cornered.
But the most annoying balance issue is MechaGhiddorah. His special shot makes your monster pause, scream, and drains ALL your energy. What is more, it doesn't matter what you are doing if he hits you. If you are on the ground and you get hit with this thing you get up, pause, scream, and get drained. So it is essentially 3 free 'grabs' your opponent gets if he ever lands this thing on you. That's a ton of damage and it is very frustrating.
Considering that Godzilla, Orga, Megalon, Anguilas, and Gigan don't have anything close to this ability to strip 20+% of an opponent's health in one shot it is a litte wampus. |

| But if Destoroyah really starts beatin' you up, go to a wide open space, and if he's far enough away, charge your special attack to THE MAXIMUM (press & hold black button when gauge is completely full). But if you have Anguirus, since his roar special attack is short range, let him try your spiked back. Anyways, controls aren't that bad, though because of using every button but Back(maybe so), recommended for Ages 10+. Several people talk about certain games as in stupid comments like "Oh! The graphics are bad! So don't buy this!" If it effects the game's fun, yeah, but some don't even tell how fun it actually is! My fun rating for this game: 7 of 5 stars! I just sat upstairs constantly on the Xbox and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle(GameCube) a break! I thought it was unbeatable! Melee Mode(Xbox only-mode) was my favorite mode. Team Battle was similar. You could be on the red or blue team and you did the same thing you do in Melee Mode: get points! Knock down a monster: 100 points. KO an opponent: 500 points. Style points: 50 points. Health Bonus(if tied with other monster(s)): (depends on health). Plus, unlike other games, the monsters don't all have the same attacks.(except ones like Godzilla 90's and Godzilla 2000, King Ghidorah and Mecha King Ghidorah) This is Xbox Live compatible for new content. Fighting fan or not, fun for everyone! |
